Sri Lankan Journalists for Global Justice (SLJGJ) vehemently condemns Israel for killing more than 65 Palestinians and injuring nearly 3,900 others who were peacefully demonstrating against the illegal occupation of their homeland from May 14th. This action of brutal slaughter amounts to genocide.
All peace loving people should condemn this action unequivocally and call upon the United Nations to implement its own resolutions aimed at realizing and ensuring the inalienable national and human rights of the Palestinian people.
We also condemn the action of the United States in re-locating its Embassy in Jerusalem in violation of international agreements and in opposition to world public opinion. According to international agreement the status of Jerusalem is to be decided jointly as the last item in a peace process.
The SLJGJ calls upon the Government to condemn forthwith the brutal massacre in Gaza and the collusion of the United States in denying the national rights of the Palestinian people.
We also call upon journalists, professionals, all political parties and civil society organizations as well as the general public to protest against this inhuman act of genocide by Israel.
